I am currently in love with our new Learning Tower! The thing is amazing.  Connor is at the age where he wants to see and touch everything, especially what’s out of his reach. Normally, I would use my sling to have him up on my level but it’s just not quite as effective as it once used to be.

Why?  Because Connor doesn’t want me. He wants to stir, mix, touch, see and feel.  He’s leaning and kicking to get out of the sling lately so he can get to whatever it is I’m working on.  If he’s not in the sling he’s pulling at my legs, arms stretched high with his sad eyes saying “pick me up Mommy, I want to help too” and although of course, I love when he wants to come snug me I like that he wants to dig in and get dirty!

So, I had to find a solution to this predicament…

I had seen the Learning Towers before but goodness… they are a tad expensive for a stool! Most around $200. So, instead of buying new, I stalked Craigslist.  Finally, one appeared!  70 bucks later I had myself a Learning Tower! Typically I wouldn’t buy something when we could just use something we already had like a chair for him to stand on but in this case I did for two main reasons…

Here’s why:

#1- We don’t have low chairs. We have a high top table with high stool like, narrow chairs in our kitchen so they are just not ideal for standing on.

#2- Peace of mind.  I didn’t want to worry about him falling off while i was simultaneously trying to cook dinner, wash dishes, etc.  the $70 is worth it to me.

You can fit more than one child on it too which is nice when Connor’s little buddy comes and plays at our house. They love to splash in the sink and you’d be surprised just how fun it is to stand instead of sit at the table for snacks.  I think it’s building a little confidence – makes them feel like they are one of us big kids!

does anyone else use a Learning Tower?  there are a quite a few similar stools by other companies out there as well if you are looking…

Thanks Ashley! I know, you need to find one of these! It saves my behind many times a day when I’m trying to get things done, especially in the kitchen!
